People who have a pet or pets, are often inseparable from their pets. Even if they have to go out of their country, they want to take te pet with them. But, it is not that simple to just take the pet. There is a process that requires some rules and acts in order to take the pet where the person goes. Talking about Dubai, people who travel to Dubai can sure take the pet with them, and of course, they must satisfy the required rules. In fact, pets are treated just like people. Yes, they must own a passport to pass the state borders. There is a process that each person who wants to take a pet or pets (one person can take maximum two pets with him) with him out og the country should follow. The process is consisted of:
Collecting and arranging the documents for the pet
First of all, the person must get a permit to import the pet. The permit is issued by the Government, and it is a must for each animal. The person fills the permit before travelling with the pet, as he provides the rest of the documents. The permit for importing the pet is issued by the MEOW. Except the application can be filled directly there, there is a possibility to fill the application form online too. It takes not much time to get the permission to travel with the pet-some two to three business days. But, if you are planning a trip, don’t wait to finish this process the last day. The next document that is necessary is the Vaccination card. The Vaccination card is a way to prove that the animal is free of different diseases and infections. The Vaccination card is issued only by a Vet. There are different types of vaccines for each animal. For example, a dog must be vaccinated for Canine distemper virus or the Leptospirosis, and other, cats for FHV-1 and other. Also, except the Vaccination card, the owner must provide a Health Certificate for the pet, that only a Vet issue. The Health Certificate can only be ten days old. The Health Certificate includes information about the pet, including: the name, the age of the pet, its breed and color and sex, and confirms if the pet is healthy to travel. Also, the owner must provide his passport. Also, each animal that enters in Dubai must be vaccinated for rabies, which is an important requirement, at least 21 days before travelling, to make sure that the vaccine is effective.
How they are welcomed in Dubai?
So, when the owner and the animals arrive in Dubai, the animals go to the Cargo Village, because the must be inspected by a Vet, to make sure if the whole previous documentation is valid, or is everything as the requirements. This is a short procedure, it does not take much time, in average it takes an hour to two hours. Also, the owner must pay a fee for each animal when they arrive, or in advance. The animal does not go to quarantine, but there is an exception only for horses, which must go to quarantine for five days.
