People in Dubai have a huge need to travel everyday, no matter if they go to university, work, or they just go to visit some place. There are always bus lines which can be used to transport the people from one place to another, rail lines too, taxies that take you from home and leave you where you should go. But, to drive on your own, Is always a good idea, ability that will always be useful for everyone, because if you miss the bus, or there is no free taxi at the moment, you can always lean on yourself. Of course, driving needs a huge responsibility of the drivers. People in Dubai must pass test to take the Driving License. People who want to be drivers, must pass the theory test and the practical test.
The Theory Test
The theory test contains 35 questions related to road signs, guides for driving safe. Also, there is an option to take the test in three different languages: English, Arabic and Urdu, or even more languages. Not all of the elderly people are computer literate, so there is even an option to answer the question by narrating. Both ways- using and not using the computer is consisting two segments. The first segment contains 17 questions related to the basic rules in the traffic, and representing different traffic situations. The candidate must answer at least 11 of 17 questions correctly in the first segment, to pass the test. The second segment consists of 18 questions, most of them connected to the category of the driving license he is taking for. The last year, there was a new-third segment added, and this test is about recognizing the risk while driving, and it is called Risk Recognition Test. The way it is described-in video form, can display risk situation closer to the candidates. Of course, if a candidate wants to apply for a driving license, he must show his ID, photos of himself, and confirmation of fees paid of AED 200.
The practical test
The practical test is the second part the candidate must take to get a driving license. First, you have assigned a concrete date to the driving center, and bring your full documentation, with the filled form of application, photos of you and confirmation of fees paid of AED 200. Of course, you are not the only candidate who takes the road test that day, there are more candidates. When all the candidates are coming together in the driving center, the instructor reads the names of four candidates from the list. The instructor gives you a few minutes to check your driving skills. If you show good and correct driving skills, you have passed the test. The team responsible for the documentation will give you the approval documentation. Then, you should show your ID again, a money order or AED 100, and the full test that you passed. Next, when the processing time finishes, the candidate got his photo, and the Driving License, so he became a new, fresh driver in Dubai. All he needs to do is to use the learned rules and experiences he got from the theory and the practical test. If the candidate fails the test, he repeats the described procedure again.
